Call for Donations

The Center for the Study of Science Fiction has a two week short story workshop taught by James Gunn every summer, and I’m planning to go this year!  I will be spending two weeks in July in Lawrence Kansas.  I’m really excited about this opportunity. Writing workshops are great ways to not only to learn more about writing and get new input about my work, but I’ll also get a chance to meet some really awesome people.

Missing two weeks of work will be a painful financial hit.  I don’t get any paid time off at either of my jobs.  The people running the workshop were kind enough to give me a small scholarship, and I’m hoping to make up the rest of the cost in donations.  Including tuition, housing, airfare, and lost wages, attending this workshop will cost me approximately $2000.

If you would like to help me pay for the workshop by making a donation, I’m offering lovely incentives!

For any donation of $10 or more, you’ll get an audio version of one of my previously published stories, read by me, with a brief intro about the story, also by me.

For $50 or more, I’ll write you a flash piece (100-1000 words)! You’ll get to name the characters, pick the genre (science fiction, fantasy, or horror) and dictate some specific guidelines (do you want unicorns? zombies? dragons? ninjas? zombie ninjas?). After the story is written and edited, I will email it to you, and the story will be dedicated to you if it appears either on my website or in any other publication.

For $100 or more, you get a longer story (1000+ words). The details are the same as with the shorter piece.
