Kinect! Also rambling!

I picked up my Kinect last week.  For those of you not geeky enough to know, a Kinect is a device that you attach to your Xbox.  It has a cameras and microphones and you can use it to play various games.  I picked up a dance game that is pretty sweet.  I like it a lot.

The rest of the features are interesting.  The voice command technology is cool, but it’s very limited.  It looks like the movie controls would be cool, but they only work through Zune.  We watch a lot of movies through the Xbox, but it’s through Netflix, not Zune.  I’m hoping that they come out with a Kinect Netflix soon.

My workout/weight loss plan continues to go well enough.  We had to get a new scale (the old one died, was very irritating) and the new calibration set me back a couple of VERY FRUSTRATING pounds.  But it’s okay.

I had a nice lunch with my grandmother today, and I stopped by the Gamestop to make sure that my Dragon Age 2 preorder would score me the exciting extra content.  I need to get through Final Fantasy XIII so that I can play some Dragon Age.  And Mass Effect.  And Mass Effect 2.  Final Fantasy’s story is interesting, but I wish the game moved a little faster.  One the one hand, a longer game means more entertainment for my money.  On the other hand, I like completing games, and it’s hard to keep myself motivated after the million hours that Final Fantasy takes.

I went to a special clearance sale at ModCloth yesterday.  I have a friend who works there, and I went as her guest.  It was pretty cool.  For under $60, I got three pairs of shoes and three dresses.  Two of the shoes are unicorn princess heels.  I already had a pink pair.  I got a black pair and a gold pair.  Now I just need silver and gunmetal to complete the set.  I will have them all.  Oh yes.

Let me find you a link so you can see how cool these shoes are.  Seriously.  UNICORN SHOES.  Look at the heel.  O_o  I’m excited about the black ones.  They are shiny.  And black matches everything.  I could wear them EVERY DAY.  I won’t.  But I could.

Watched The Iron Giant last night.  It’d been a long time since I’d seen it.  It’s delightful.  If you haven’t seen it, or if it’s been long enough that you don’t remember it very well, you should totally check it out.  It’s got a giant robot.  I love robots.  Robots are awesome.

I finished a short story and sent it off to a market today.  I have another one that I really need to get on editing.  And I’m almost to 20,000 words in the novel I’m working on.  And no, I’m not doing National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) because I don’t want to make myself INSANE.
